Aquaswell

A flexible polyurethane sealant that swells in contact with water. It is used in water- and gas-tight pipe, cable and concrete-joint details that provide the required confinement.

Use Aquaswell around suitable pipe and cable penetrations, construction joints and concrete details designed to confine a water-swelling polyurethane seal.

Key properties

  • Water- and gas-tight to 5 bar under the DVGW VP601 test scope
  • Swells up to 450% of its original volume under constant water load
  • Remains elastic after curing and returns towards its original shape when water contact is removed

  1. 01

    Check that a water-swelling seal suits the surface, expected water pressure and available space, and that the design will confine it as it expands.

  2. 02

    Prepare sound, clean surfaces and remove dust, grease, laitance and loose material so the product is enclosed by solid substrate.

  3. 03

    Apply a continuous bead or fill the specified section without voids or trapped air, keeping the distance from the substrate edge stated in the technical data sheet.

  4. 04

    Install the backing, packing and closing detail shown in the system guidance. Without confinement, the product will expand but will not seal.

  5. 05

    Keep running water away until the product has reached the state described in the technical data sheet.
