High-temperature performance

Firecement HT cures to a rigid seal and is documented for temperatures up to 1500°C. It is designed for static, dry details rather than flexible movement joints or areas with standing water.

  1. 01

    Confirm that a hard-setting, non-elastic filler suits the detail. These products are intended for static joints and openings, not for joints that move or carry structural load.

  2. 02

    Clean the joint or opening back to sound material and remove soot, ash, grease, dust and loose deposits.

  3. 03

    Where the substrate is porous or very dry, dampen it lightly if the technical data sheet calls for it, so the paste does not dry out too quickly.

  4. 04

    Fill the opening solidly through its full depth without voids, then smooth the surface before the paste begins to skin.

  5. 05

    Allow the stated drying time, then raise the appliance to temperature gradually so the filler hardens without cracking.

  • The product sets hard and does not accommodate movement. Use an appropriate elastic sealant where the joint moves.
  • Match the stated temperature rating to the real service temperature at the joint rather than to the appliance’s peak output.
  • For passive fire protection or flue-gas tightness, follow the complete tested construction rather than relying on the product alone.
  • Before starting, read the current technical and safety information for the product.
  • If the materials, coatings or site conditions are unfamiliar, test adhesion and compatibility on a prepared area first.
